The Center for Ocean Engineering of the Department of Mechanical Engineering was established on January 1, 2005 and has as purpose to focus and support research and educational activities in the field of Ocean Engineering at MIT. The Center also supports the joint MIT/WHOI Program in Oceanographic Engineering and the Naval Construction and Engineering Program.
