Dr. George A. Kriezis is a Fleet Superintendent Engineer for Consolidated Marine Management of Piraeus Greece, a company managing a fleet of tankers, product carriers and gas carriers. George is in charge of the technical management of part of the fleet comprising of two (2) Suezmax Tankers and is actively involved on the new building project of the Company in Korea for 6 product carriers (DWT 47000).
George has a Bachelor's degree (13 BS, 1986), two Master's degrees (13 SM., 1986 and 13B SM, 1990) and a Ph.D. (1990) from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. George was awarded numerous academic prizes, research awards and scholarships for his undergraduate and graduate work. During his studies at MIT, George worked on many and varied research projects such as the design and dynamic analysis of marine risers, the design of floating production platforms and the development of algorithms for geometric modeling applications. George has published his work in Journals such as the Journal of Ship Research, the Journal of Ship Production, Computer Aided Design, The Visual Computer, and the Journal of Offshore Mechanics and Arctic Engineering.
Upon his graduation, George worked for two years in Parametric Technology Corporation of Waltham, Massachusetts, where he was a Principal Software Engineer in the Advanced Applications Group and a Principal developer of PRO/Sheetmetal, a software package for the design and manufacturing of parts made from sheet metal. In 1992 George changed his career path and upon his return to Greece, got involved in the area of Ship Management and Shipbuilding. First he completed his two years of military service in the Hellenic Navy, and during that time he was a supervisor in the construction of two offshore patrol vessels in Hellenic Shipyards. Following that he worked for Oceanbulk Maritime S.A. as a Quality assurance Officer. He coordinated the development of the company's International Safety Management code (ISM)/ISO 9002 Manuals and supervised the organization and setting up of a new ship management company Eurobulk SA. From October 1995 to the end of 1997, he worked for Pyrsos Managing Co. as a Fleet Superintendent Engineer. He was responsible for supervising repairs, drydockings, surveys and the overall maintenance of machinery. He was also involved in the Pyrsos new building project for the construction of four (4) multipurpose/feeder container ships (360 TEU's) in Turkey. This project was recently completed. Due to the nature of his work, George has traveled extensively worldwide, supervising repairs and maintenance of ships. He has experience with shipyards and repairers in Australia, the Far East, Europe, North and South America. From the beginning of this year he works in his position with Consolidated Marine Management as a Fleet Superintendent Engineer. George is Treasurer of the MIT Alumni Association Club of Greece and is a member of the Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers and the Technical Chamber of Greece. |
